One of the founding aspects of Chris Lecler’s work lies in the process by which he constructs objects or fractions of objects. Ruin, vestige, accentuation and sacralization of elements from the ordinary, these forms have as many references to what remains as a trace of urban activity as to the layout of interior space and furniture. The elements are deliberately amplified, converting meaning and maintaining an unstable relationship with the object’s status. All of this contributes to an extrapolation of everyday life, where Handcraft, premium products and counterfeit goods rub shoulders with mass-market items.
