Lara Gasparotto’s raw, spontaneous talent is unrivalled, but its accuracy and strength are astonishing and take us by surprise. A graduate in photography from the Ecole supérieure des Arts Saint-Luc in Liège, in recent years she has asserted a temperament that seeks, not answers, but to capture the instant of beauty, love, the essence of the feminine or the wildness of nature, all of which are by definition ephemeral, unattainable and fragile. This movement, unbridled and confident at the same time, generates the vitality of the artist’s work, whose style is neither submerged in naive freshness nor in clever calculations of effect. Crossing codes and techniques with uninhibited flexibility, from reportage to fashion to night and nude photography, Lara Gasparotto already has a fine series of feverish images to her credit, captured in her everyday life or more subtly staged.
