A graduate of the Institut Saint-Luc in 1987, Jules Lallement has been painting ever since, even if he rarely shows his work. Working in oil or acrylic, he often favors dense compositions in which the repetition of motifs tends to create the optical illusion of perpetual movement. In recent years, he has also created many portraits of his close friends and family, usually using photographs that he rearranges to give them a psychological intensity. In these works, in which he painstakingly transcribes the architecture of Liège, he once again shares an intimate relationship with us, while remaining true to his obsession with regular patterns.
