Fernand Flausch, an independent artist from Liège, creates a rich and diversified body of work, appreciated by the general public. He regularly exhibits his work in Belgium, France, Great Britain, etc.
A painter, draughtsman, designer and sculptor, he draws much of his inspiration from comic books and the relationship between nature and the city, with a particular focus on the automobile. Considered a neo-pop artist, he doesn’t limit himself to any medium, using neon, Plexiglas, stained glass and digital images. He has also been invited to create numerous pieces of public art, such as the monumental sculpture “La mort de l’automobile” (1980) at the Musée en Plein Air du Sart Tilman in Liège, the luminous works at the Bank of China in Hong Kong (1985), the frescoes “Le feu de Néron et les surhommes” and “Le combat des Stylites” in the Ribaucourt metro station in Brussels (1988), and the street furniture at Place Saint-Lambert in Liège (1999-2001).
The work “Avril 80. Liège à Paris”, an installation in which he reuses neon, is his contribution to the activities organized by the Communauté Française de Belgique in Paris to mark the millennium of the Principality of Liège.
