Leather fabric catalog, pins

Purchase SPACE Namur

Underpinned by a narrative thread in which needlework allows for numerous metaphors, Romina Remmo’s visual work is not limited to any single technique. She uses photography, drawing, sculpture and installation with a mastery and precision often close to trompe-l’œil. Acquired at the time of the conception of the exhibition “Espèces d’espaces” organized by SPACE in Namur, like the video by Benoît Félix, the piece “A fleur de peau” also questions the definition of drawing and the fragility of supports. Remaining within the semantic field of textiles, it is part of a series of four diverted objects in which the artist uses albums of furnishing fabric samples as a support for motifs traced in relief with pins. In this case, the sensuality of the material culminates in a catalog whose pages are composed of leathers of varying texture and color. Stitched into a bed of roses, the frame of a medallion opens onto another page, whose surface exacerbates the material of the skin.
