Works in Brussels

From the first calligraphic paper rolls to ceramic sculptures, artists’ books and models or prototypes, my work has never ceased to expand, to unfold in space, to involve the viewer in all his or her physicality. In recent years, my site-specific installations have sought to place me outside any notion of the market.

“Keeping our heads above water” and “Press” are two attempts to question the status of the work of art and the true foundations of its value and utility. The artistic gesture approaches an affirmation of the primacy of a direct, intimate relationship between the work and the viewer, who is invited to a certain physical engagement, driven by pure curiosity and emotional disposition. Transformations may result from this encounter. The work is all the more illustrative of the fact that it exists, that it is only “worth” in and through this interaction.

Always thirsty to learn, I try to bring my creations to greater maturity, to go beyond their limits and thereby open myself up to different disciplines. The result is a polymorphous body of work from which emerges a sensitive yet acute reflection on the human being and the state of our society.
