Cathy Alvarez Valle

Lives and works in Liège
Born in Liège in 1978 of Spanish parents. After completing a degree in Romance Philology at the University of Salamanca in Spain, she returned to Liège. She studied film history at university and photography at the Saint-Luc Institute in Liège. As a self-taught artist, she enjoys exploring new media such as ceramics and embroidery.
She takes part in various cultural and artistic projects for the educational department of the Charleroi Museum of Photography. In 2012, 2016 and 2018 she was in charge of mediation for the Biennale de l’Image Possible (BIP° for the Centre culturel Les Chiroux) and led creative workshops on images and textiles with a variety of audiences. She regularly exhibits in museums and galleries such as La Boverie in Liège, La Châtaigneraie in Flémalle, Le Tamat in Tournai, Le Musée Arts&Marges in Brussels and recently in Beijing. On her return from a creative residency at l’Imprimerie, Centre d’artistes, Montréal, she took up a residency at RAVI, Liège, to prepare the “El Baile” exhibition at Space (2022).
She recently exhibited at Art_Hybrid_Fair in Madrid in 2024, presenting the Primas Hermanas (Cousin-Sisters) Collective made up of the artist trio and the DosMilVacas gallery (Ponferrada); Carnita Alvarez Valle (Liège), Reme Remedios (Ponferrada) and Cathy Alvarez Valle (Liège).
