Carole Louis

Carole Louis was born in Cologne in 1985. She grew up in a small village in the Ardennes, before moving to Brussels to study sculpture at La Cambre, from which she graduated in 2008. She began exhibiting in Poland, at the BWA Museum in Katowice in 2008 and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Szczecin in 2009. In 2011 and 2013, her work was shown at Galerie Hoffmann in Germany. In 2012, she was invited to the Mu art center in Eindhoven, where her performance practice began. From 2014 to 2024, she worked in Belgium and abroad at various renowned institutions. In particular, she obtained several residencies in Luxembourg, created an in situ project in Basel for the “Parcours” contemporary art fair, and created a performance for the CWB in Paris. In 2021, she discovered Liège thanks to the RAVI residency, and subsequently exhibited at the Space Collection, Art au center and La Boverie. In 2021, she was also invited to the SACO biennial in Chile. In Brussels in 2023, she exhibited at La maison des Arts de Schaerbeek, Jeunesse et Arts Plastiques and produced two performances for the Trouble festival. In 2024, she was awarded a 3-month residency at Greylight Project in Heerlen, Netherlands, to create a performance to be presented in Liège in September at the Performing Landscape festival. She has also won several grants, including “Un futur pour la culture” from the FWB, the
prize for innovation Covid 2021, in Luxembourg, and the SOFAM grant in 2023.
