Eleni Kamma

Eleni Kamma (Athens, 1973) is a visual artist, researcher and educator. She studied at Chelsea College of Art & Design, London (MA) and the Athens School of Fine Arts (BA). In 2008/2009, she was a fine arts researcher at the Jan Van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. She holds a PhD from Leiden University’s Academy of Creative and Performing Arts (2016-2021). Kamma’s practice circulates from her as an individual artist (through drawings and objects), to dialogic collaborations (films, performative events, journals) and back again, writing about and developing this practice with others.
Solo exhibitions have been held at Bærum Kunsthall, Fornebu (2024), Kunsthal Gent (2023), Centre de la Gravure et de l’Image Imprimée, La Louvière (2022); Odapark, Venray, (2022); West Den Haag (2021); SPACE, Liège (2021) ; ArBA-EsA, Académie royale des beaux-arts de Bruxelles (2018); Netwerk, Aalst (2015), Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, Thessaloniki (2013); NAK Neuer Aachener Kunstverein, Aachen (2012); Alex Mylona Athens (2012); Wiels, Brussels (2011). His work has been shown in various exhibition venues, film and performance festivals and artist residencies around the world, including the 10th International Istanbul Biennial, the 5th Thessaloniki Biennial of Contemporary Art, Palais de Tokyo, Paris, ARGOS Centre for Audiovisual Arts, Brussels, Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, Bonn, and Centre d’art Le Lait, Albi ; EMST National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens; Casino Luxembourg, Luxembourg; Bonnefanten Museum, Maastricht; Musée d’art moderne et contemporain de Saint-Étienne Métropole, DESTE Foundation, Athens; IASPIS, Stockholm ; SALT, Istanbul; Dazibao, Montreal; Cittadellarte -Fondazione Pistoletto, Biella; Kristianstads konsthall, Kristianstad; the first Limburg Biennial, Marres, Maastricht, Transmediale, Berlin and Playground Festival, Museum-M, Leuven. In 2007, Kamma was nominated for the Prix Deste. In 2012, she was awarded NAK Neuer Aachener Kunstverein’s euregional PREIS FÜR JUNGE KUNST.
Kamma is a member of the Maastricht Academy of Interdisciplinary Arts team. She has been a mentor for the Visual Arts SNF Artist Fellowship Program 2022, Stavros Niarchos Foundation, Athens, and guest lecturer at the Royal Academy of Arts, The Hague (KABK), LUCA School of Arts, Brussels, MAFAD, Maastricht, Académie royale des beaux-arts de Bruxelles, École nationale supérieure des arts visuels de La Cambre, Brussels, and Frank Mohr Institute, Groningen.
She lives and works in Maastricht and Brussels.
