Sylvie Mac\u00edas D\u00edaz (BE-ES) is a visual artist living and working in Belgium. Her current work involves photography, drawing, painting, sculpture and installation. <\/p>\n
Sylvie Mac\u00edas D\u00edaz's approach is based on the principle of recuperation, and she builds organic, ecological and ecosophical architectures out of market crates, whose poetry lies in the traces they have accumulated and the memories they convey. Contrary to the idea of Zen architecture, she assigns to her constructions plans or objects which, through their most bourgeois conformist functions, mainly evoke the capitalist system of excessive consumption, thus destabilizing all biological and environmental ideas. A reflection on ecology, but also on our current financial crisis: relocation, job insecurity, the housing crisis and the new poor. <\/p>\n
On the other hand, she likes to expose and denounce what our consumer society proposes to us as societal stereotypes of conformist, domestic happiness. In addition, she cynically dismantles and displays fragments of women's bodies in wood or metal: their stiletto-heeled legs and their hair playfully brought to life, creating from the symbolic idea of \"the puppet\" an articulated doll, an assembled body participating in any dramatic action, as an object directed only by the hand, pulled or not by strings, and denouncing in this way what lies behind the mechanisms of the social order. <\/p>\n
His works have been exhibited in Belgium and abroad, and form part of various public collections, including the MHKA (Antwerp), the Mus\u00e9e M (Leuven), the IKOB (Eupen), the Bonnefantenmuseum (Maastricht) and others.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
