In 2007, following the break-up of the group, the Belgian artist duo formed Mon Colonel & Spit. Their artistic practice spans a wide range of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture and ceramics. Most of the time, their works are assembled in the form of installations. These reflect their universe, made up of references to everyday life, comics, popular and urban cultures, all bathed in a joyful naivety, imbued with irony, humor and irreverence.

In 2015, the duo won the Commission des Arts de Wallonie prize for presenting glazed terracotta pottery covered with texts and drawings similar to their paper works. They then began attending classes by ceramic artists Dominique Matagne and Gilette Fosty. In 2017, Mon Colonel & Spit exhibited sculptures and a whole series of ceramic artifacts for the first time at the MIMA museum in Brussels. This installation, entitled "Show no merci", is the genesis of 40 years of life, artistic sensibility, memories, experiences and encounters that have made them artists. For the duo, the exhibition becomes a real trigger in their practice, where the art of ceramics takes an almost exclusive place.

"Their work, filled with a wild and fertile poetic density, simply needed to be faithfully transcribed to share what the artists had to reveal about their exploration of ceramics and the sources of their creativity. This approach, though rather academic, proved tricky, all the more so as Eric and Thomas' sculptures are often tinged with lightness, illustrating their propensity for fun and laughter." - R. Cruyt

https://moncoloneletspit.be/

post-10927","artistes-space","type-artistes-space","status-publish
["GET
