His artistic practice is contextual, responding with installations, sculptures, performances and drawings to the spaces and situations in which he is invited to intervene. Born in Brussels, raised in Wallonia, he now lives in Antwerp.

Adrien Tirtiaux has exhibited in numerous European institutions, including the Bruges Triennale (2024), the Ijsselbiennale (Zwolle, 2021), MARTta Herford (2020), le Magasin (Grenoble, 2019), Middelheimmuseum (Antwerp, 2018), Kunstverein München (2017), De Appel (Amsterdam, 2016), MNAC (Bucharest, 2015), ikob (Eupen, 2014), Malmö Konsthal (2013), Kunsthalle Sankt-Gallen (2011), Secession (Vienna, 2010) and Manifesta 7 (Rovereto, 2008). He won the Bernd Lohaus Prize in 2018 and was shortlisted for the Young Belgian Art Prize in 2013.

Integrating artworks into architecture and public space is a natural extension of his practice, and in recent years he has created permanent works for several Belgian sites, including the Haren prison (2022), the new ING headquarters in Louvain-La-Neuve (2021), the La ferme du Château sports center in Loverval (2021), Transfo Zwevegem (2020) and the VDAB skills center in Antwerp (2015). Art in the public space was also at the heart of the HOTEL CHARLEROI project, a platform for artist residencies and exhibitions that he founded and commissioned with Antoine Turillon and Hannes Zebedin between 2010 and 2017.

https://www.adrientirtiaux.eu/
https://www.instagram.com/adrientirtiaux/

post-10627","artistes-space","type-artistes-space","status-publish
["GET
